In 1993, I conducted a survey of the western suburbs of Boston under a contract from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management (now part of the Department of Conservation and Recreation) and the Cerntral Transportation Planning Staff. The project report was posted for several years on the Web site of the Massachusetts Bicycle Coalition, but it was removed in the fall of 2009, and so I have posted it on my own Web site.
The notes on the blueprint maps are hand-lettered, and my flashgun did not light the maps evenly when I photographed them. My preparation for web posting was quick and dirty. But much information here is still highly relevant. For example, work on the Cochituate Rail Trail and Danforth Bridge in Framingham is underway now, in 2010. I hope you find the report useful, and I welcome your comments.
